In the early months of the pandemic in 2020 — when drag queens had to scrambled to find new avenues for performing, Gila Münster swapped lip-syncing at the bar for reading stories for children online at her local public library in Richmond Hill.

Münster’s storytime sessions have since stretched to Toronto from York Region, adding her humour to five books on inclusivity and diversity that are read, danced and sung along to with kids and their parents and caregivers.

Münster, who calls herself “Toronto’s cross-stitching, cross-dressing Jewish-American princess,” decided to bring the readings to libraries in person in the spring of 2022.
